Holistic Psychotherapy and
Trauma Healing
Creating a safe space for vulnerability.
Payton Somers, LPCC
Born and raised in the New York area, I have lived in various parts of the country and abroad over the course of my life. I have a personal appreciation for what makes us each unique and different, as well as a keen understanding of our essential humanness.
My professional training began during my Master’s degree training at The Family Institute at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. During my internship years, I worked with both adults and adolescents in outpatient and residential settings.
Following my graduation, I moved out to California for the warmth and professional opportunity. I worked for several years in school-based settings with children and adolescents and their families. Most recently, I made the transition to working with adults. I often leverage my developmental understanding to see the “inner child” in my adult clients.
Throughout my career, I have worked with populations that have historically been underserved by the mental health profession. I am deeply passionate about creating a safe and compassionate space for diverse identities to engage in healing.
Professional Values
I believe in the profound and foundational ability for the therapeutic relationship to support an individual in their healing. In this way, I cultivate a meaningful and authentic therapeutic alliance with each of my clients. I believe in honoring their personal values, discovering their pivotal past experiences, and collaborating with them in determining their future goals.
I feel honored to walk alongside my clients throughout their journeys. I believe that therapy is a much-needed support that every individual deserves for different reasons at various points in their life. In this way, I hope to empower my clients to lean on this support, transition out of this space when ready, and return to it whenever needed.
