 Frequently Asked Questions

+ What does “holistic psychotherapy” mean?

First, let me breakdown what psychotherapy means to me. Psychotherapy is another term for ‘talk therapy’, meaning that it is founded upon the evidence and principles that demonstrate efficacy through the action of attending therapy. Psychotherapy has the ability to alleviate symptoms of distress and increase adaptive functioning. The term ‘holistic’ qualifies the type of psychotherapy as identifying a focus on the ‘whole’ of a person’s experience, striving for their mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness.

+ What does billing look like?

Each month, you will have a superbill automatically generated and sent to you via email. This format is an easy and accessible way to forward to your health insurance provider for reimbursement. While I do require you to pay for the sessions out-of-pocket upfront, these superbills offer all the necessary information for health insurance providers to bill under medical necessity.

+ What are your hours and do you provide crisis intervention?

My hours are generally 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday, each week. I provide crisis intervention based upon the client’s level of risk, as needed. If you are someone who anticipates that you may require support outside of these hours for crisis intervention, we will assess for whether this level of care is appropriate for you and, if it is, make a safety plan to ensure that our therapeutic relationship provides you with the levels of safety and support that you need.

+ What if we aren’t a good fit?

It happens! I hope for this process to be a mutual choice between therapist and client. If for whatever reason you do not feel that we are a good fit, please let me know and I will provide you with a list of appropriate referrals. Similarly, if I assess that the expertise you need is not a good fit for my skill set, I will direct you to trusted referrals.
